Dry Fire Training Cards Dot Torture Drill Target

You can download for your use the new free Dot Torture Drill Target made by Dry Fire Training Cards... "Dot Torture is a 20+ year old fundamentals drill that oftentimes ends up being used as a "drill of the month" for various instructors and schools.

It's shot at close range with no time limits and that makes it a perfect drill to do with airsoft...except for the fact that many airsoft pistols with iron sights shoot low at 9-10 feet.

A bad solution is to simply "aim high."  You really don't want to do that because it introduces more thinking into the process than you want.  Ideally, you'd just line up the sights on the dot torture target the same way you would on any other target and press the trigger.

This target lets you do that by having a lighter colored target offset below the target you're aiming at.  You aim at the top target & score the bottom target when you're shooting at super-close range.

Why shoot at super-close range?

  1. Most shooters can't shoot dot torture successfully at 6 feet, let alone 10.  It's smart to start at 6 feet, shoot the drill clean, and then start backing up.
  2. Many airsoft pistol/bb combinations aren't precise enough to shoot a 2" group at longer distances.  You want to shoot the drill close enough so that you know that a miss is because of you and not because of what you're shooting.

Now, this may not be a problem if you've got a milled slide and a red dot on your pistol and it's not really an issue for live fire because of the size of the bullet...so if your gun is putting holes where you're aiming (instead of low), then just score the top circle.

You can download the target for free and print as many as you want at https://DotTortureDrill.com  While you're there, check out the 5 "hacks" for shooting Dot Torture better IMMEDIATELY as well as 5 ways to improve airsoft precision.

Why is it such a good course of fire?

It tests 1-handed and 2-handed shooting, transitions, reloads, draw stroke, presentation, and re-holstering.  There are reduced round count versions, but 4-5 reps helps squeeze out luck and gives you a more accurate picture of how you're shooting.

If you've got a room that's 6-10 feet wide and a couple of cardboard boxes, this is a course of fire that you can shoot with an airsoft trainer a couple of times a week for less than a buck."
