Cybergun has produced an electric airsoft version of the FA-MAS Valorise, a modernized take on the French bullpup rifle that served as the standard-issue weapon of the French army from the late 1970s. Mister Moro takes a look at it in this Hyperdouraku review.
Known for its bullpup layout and large carrying handle — earning it the nickname "Le Clairon" (The Military Trumpet) — the original FA-MAS has gone through several revisions over the decades. The Valorise variant updates the platform with improved compatibility for modern accessories, including optical sights, while keeping the rifle's recognizable silhouette intact.
The airsoft model carries an official FA-MAS license and retails at 14,080 yen including tax. It features a low-profile Picatinny rail on top of the receiver, a short rail near the muzzle, a bayonet lug, and a polymer flash hider and outer barrel. One limitation worth noting is the battery compartment, located under the handguard, which is tight enough that even an 800mAh 7.4V LiPo battery may not allow the cover to close fully. The connector is Tamiya mini type.
In range testing with 0.2g BBs, the rifle was accurate enough to hit a man-sized target at 30 meters. With 0.25g BBs, the trajectory arced more but held up well against wind. Semi-auto trigger response was noted as unremarkable, and full-auto cycled at around 7 rounds per second. For a rifle at this price point, the performance is serviceable, and the FA-MAS Valorise's distinct looks give it an appeal that tends to grow on those who spend time with it.
