Jaeger Precision goes on upgrading the hop-up system of an APFG MCX Spear LT Gas Blowback Rifle (GBBR) to improve performance and accuracy. The host begins the process by disassembling the front end of the rifle to access the existing hop unit.
The stock hop system is replaced with a Red Hammer Defense (RHD) kit and a 4UANTUM hop-up rubber. This RHD kit changes the original corkscrew adjustment mechanism to a more precise, screw-based system. During the disassembly, the host encounters a common issue: a stripped grub screw, which is successfully removed using a technique involving a Torx driver. Additionally, a longer 265mm Unicorn inner barrel is installed, which is noted to increase the rifle's power output.
After installing the new components, the host observes that the new hop-up nub is slightly off-center—a crucial detail that needs correction to ensure consistent hop application. The video concludes with the host planning to fix the alignment, install an NPAS valve to regulate the power increase from the new barrel, and then take the rifle to the range for a final performance test.
