Airsix TV takes good look at the recently released Tokyo Marui Glock 19 Gen5 MOS, which delighted fans who prefer the compact frame over its larger sibling, the Glock 17. The new model features the Modular Optic System, allowing for easy red dot integration, though the box still includes a small bag of BBs that most modern hobbyists treat like ancient artifacts. The exterior sticks to the brand’s traditional high-quality plastic slide, now finished in a dark grey with a subtle metallic pearl effect that almost manages to convince you it isn't plastic.
Under the hood, the engineering sees several practical updates, including a reinforced hammer housing designed to survive more than a few weekends of heavy use. Interestingly, the internal roller now features a spring similar to VFC designs, a change that adds a slight "clicky" resistance during racking that might make you feel more like a professional operator and less like you're playing with a high-end toy. For those who enjoy a bit of Frankenstein-style experimentation, the upper and lower frames are surprisingly interchangeable with the Glock 17 Gen5, though why you would want to create such a hybrid is a question for your own conscience.
On the range, the performance is a bit of a mixed bag. While the trigger pull is crisp and the cycling speed is snappy, the grouping at 10 meters was erratic enough to suggest the gun might have its own opinions about where the target should be. Adding a red dot sight seems to help with perceived recoil, or perhaps it just provides a more expensive way to watch the BBs wander off-course. Despite the slightly moody accuracy, he says that the Marui Glock 19 Gen5 MOS remains a solid choice for collectors and players who value the Gen5’s improved ergonomics and ambidextrous controls.
