Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes 12 Minute Gameplay Demo

Gungho Cowboy

With Sony's Playstation 4, their next generation console, released yesterday. We all think of the video games that we can play with this new console, but for us, the Metal Gear Solid Series is always synonymous with the Playstation series. And we will be treated with two MGS titles in its 5th major release. Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is a prologue to Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain which will feature Keifer Sutherland as the voice of Snake for the first time.

Konami released a 12-minute gameplay demo on YouTube with a commentary on playing the particular mission. This mission involves Snake sneaking into a US military base to get information from an agent who is deployed inside the base. As Metal Gear Solid always puts a good emphasis on stealth, to get the information from the agent towards the actual target, Snake will have to stealthily get pass some guards before approaching the agent.

Upon retrieval of the target, which is a cassette tape which in his digital age, looks so out of place, Snake will need to bug out of the base and to safety. In the demo, he called in chopper to take a riskier landing and thus got shotdown. Snake will have to fight it out and the demo shows the new moves such as the CQC attack where he can take two men down quickly and even steal a weapon from an enemy and quickly use it to shoot him.

These moves reminds us of movies where all these moves are shown and they actually have a cool effect and in a way there's a Max Payne effect with these. Eventually, the player was able to extract Snake from the base, killing a few enemies and destroying an armoured vehicle along the way, before doing a dramatic jeep stunt and out of the base. Mission accomplished.

For those who have not heard much about MGSV Ground Zeroes, this is the prologue which almost never got to see the light of the day. Kojami wants to introduce more mature themes in the Metal Gear Solid in line with books and movies. He wants more to tackle more taboos which game producers, especially in big name companies, which might want to avoid such topics so as not to affect the bottomline.

MGSV Ground Zeroes whilst it is a prologue, is a different game title when it gets released in Spring 2014 and thus is to be sold differently from the main title, Phantom Pain. It will also be released not only for the Playstation 3 and the new PS4, but also for the XBox 360 and Xbox One. And most probably you will need to buy Ground Zeroes to be prepared to the release of Phantom Pain.
