Battlefield 4 Expansion Projects Stopped Until Flaws Are Fixed

Gungho Cowboy

I almost enjoyed the first player campaign in Battlefield 4 but some inconsistencies in the game plot and a lackluster ending just killed my enjoyment. Indeed Frostbite 3 is really good, but I guess most of the focus is in the actual game engine and they almost forgot to firm up the story plot. It is in the story that Call of Duty: Ghosts wins over Battlefield 4. But that is my own opinion.

I have not spent much time in the multiplayer game, and neither did Optimus Prime. It's not because that we both suck at fragging other players (which is really true), but we got fed-up with game ejections and server issues. But what riled up Optimus Prime was the constant crashes of the game.

Even the anticipated DLC, China Rising, even before its wider release later in the month, early users are already reporting problems such as inability to find servers and for PC gamers, being dropped from game right after joining.

The issues have gotten to a head the Electronic Arts, the game's publisher, have put a halt on future expansion projects until all the glitches and flaws have been corrected.  This means that the planned DLCs will be not developed as all hands are on fixing the issues. This means that everyone will do firefighting the programmers on the glitches; the network guys to ensure that drops and network latency are good for multiplayers; and the PR guys to placate a growing number of disillusioned FPS gamers.

Here is EA' statements as reported by Kotaku:

First, we want to thank the fans out there that are playing and supporting us with Battlefield 4. We know we still have a ways to go with fixing the game – it is absolutely our #1 priority. The team at DICE is working non-stop to update the game. Since Battlefield 4 China Rising expansion pack was already in the final stages of development by the time issues began with Battlefield 4, we decided to fulfill our promise to deliver it this week, but we're not moving onto future projects or expansions until we sort out all the issues with Battlefield 4. We know many of our players are frustrated, and we feel your pain. We will not stop until this is right.

They also announced a double XP week for BF4 players which ends today.

We're actually planning to do some Holiday Multiplayer gaming when we do some downtime by Christmas so we can do more online killing to make Santa frown. We just hope by that time, most of the annoying glitches have been fixed or else we'll just camp out in some maps in COD Ghosts.
For the meantime, here's a video of a battlepack glitch whilst we wait for things to be fixed:
