Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Flyover Airsoft

OptimusPrime

UAVs have been helping soldiers in the battlefield. Giving vital intelligence to the "boots" on the ground, pinpoint targets for air strikes, or do the actual firing of missiles themselves. The newest "scourge" in the warfare, UAVs are pioneering the way air warfare will be conducted in the future. From just being support units, concepts of being frontline battle weapons in the form of "drones" (just imagine the Protoss drones in Starcraft), UAVs provide less cost and preserve highly-invested pilots by making them fly these units from base units from afar.

We have seen airsoft players, who are also RC hobbyists, try to make conversion of their existing RC units into UAV drones. It's a mixture of electric-motor powered to petrol-powered ones, with the latter being able to provide more power and length in staying over the skirmish area. All they need to do is mount some helmet/gun camera over the RC unit (like the Oregon ATC series which are really sturdy), or even HD action cameras from AIPTEK (cheap and will do the job).  But these AUVs are mainly more for documentation, and we wonder if there are airsoft UAVs which will provide real time information to airsoft units during milsim events.

Now, MadBull Airsoft is developing an UAV. By the looks of the video below, it's a unit that can hover (we don't know how long) over the battlefield. This is still a sneak preview, and we do not know yet its specficiations and capabilities (whether for documentation or actual real time intelligence). But nevertheless, MadBull is breaking new grounds to commercialise UAVs for airsoft, which we are sure will be followed suit by some companies.

So, we are waiting for more information from MadBull. Who knows, this unit might be able to conduct some strafing missions over the field, giving us  a good taste of an "airstrike". There might be airsoft units soon that will have a motto "HITS FROM ABOVE!".
