Kaslab Airsoft Is The Wolverine Inferno XTS The Best Engine For MTW?

Kaslab Airsoft compares the older Wolverine Inferno Gen 2 airsoft engine with the new XTS version. Whilst the newer model promises better efficiency and improved components like a stainless steel nozzle, it arrives as a bare-bones upgrade kit. This means users have to perform an organ transplant surgery by moving the solenoid and airline from their old setup to the new one, which he finds slightly tedious.

Performance tests show that the XTS is indeed more air-efficient, squeezing out about 500 extra shots per tank compared to its predecessor. It also shines in full-auto mode, providing tighter groupings and better consistency at long distances. However, the host notes that the engine seems to require higher pressure to reach the same power levels, making it a bit louder—perfect for those who want their airsoft matches to sound slightly more dramatic.

Despite the technical gains, the host encounters several growing pains, including strange nozzle wobble and inconsistent hop-up performance during semi-auto fire. Whilst the older engine remains a reliable workhorse, the XTS feels more like a temperamental race car that needs specific shimming and tweaking to reach its potential.
