Airsoft Mike compares three versions of the CO2-powered Umarex Smith & Wesson M29 Classic revolver, featuring barrel lengths of three, six, and eight inches. While all models share identical internal mechanisms and full-metal construction, the primary differences lie in their physical size and the resulting impact on performance. Each unit includes a hidden hop-up adjustment tool built into the grip for fine-tuning the trajectory of the projectiles.
The demonstration highlights a significant performance gap between two types of airsoft shells. The front-loading cartridges included with some models are shown to be underpowered and prone to getting stuck in the barrel due to mechanical issues. In contrast, rear-loading cartridges provide much higher velocity and more consistent operation, leading to a recommendation to use the rear-loading versions for any of the three models.
Chronograph and target testing reveal that barrel length directly influences both power and accuracy. The three-inch model produces the lowest velocity and is suited for close-range use, while the eight-inch version offers the highest power and most consistent groupings at a distance. Ultimately, the choice between the three variants depends on a preference for compact handling versus the increased precision provided by a longer barrel.
