SK Airsoft explores the history and features of the VFC FN FNC GBB rifle, based on the firearm designed to modernize the Belgian arsenal after the FAL era. While the real-world version struggled to find its footing against competitors like the M16, this airsoft gas blowback version by VFC is highlighted for its attention to detail. It even includes specific welding spots and licensed markings that might make a collector feel like they’ve found a hidden treasure in a pile of plastic replicas.
The rifle features a mix of materials, using steel for the upper receiver and a metal alloy for the lower, resulting in a sturdy build that mimics the weight of the original. It borrows some design cues from the AK-47, such as a specific internal locking mechanism, and includes a folding stock that requires a bit of finesse to operate. A quirky "night sight" and a non-functional gas tube selector add to the aesthetic, though the fire selector is described as a bit of a reach for anyone not blessed with exceptionally long thumbs.
In performance tests, the rifle shows consistent accuracy at short distances, though its power is a bit modest for its size. It requires specific magazines to function correctly and lacks a modern rail system out of the box, meaning you’ll have to import an adapter if you want to mount fancy optics. Despite these hurdles and the awkwardness of the fire selector, SK Airsoft finds the recoil and realism satisfying, even if they ultimately decided to put this particular unit up for sale to fund other priorities.
