PRESS RELEASE: PORT-AU-PRINCE, HAITI -  On Tuesday, January 12, 2010 (PST) the Caribbean nation of Haiti was struck by a 7.0 M earthquake, killing approximately 250,000 people, and leaving an already destitute country in ruins. On January 29th, 120 volunteers with the Utah Hospital Task Force were deployed to assist in the Haitian disaster relief effort. And leading their security team were OPSGEAR® CEO David Burnell and Executive VP John West. Their time spent in-country alongside doctors and nurses was documented to show others what can be expected when the unexpected occurs.

"Danger Calls: Haiti" offers viewers an in-depth look at the decisions made and actions taken by OPSGEAR® executives David Burnell and John West as they work to maintain a secure area for medical professionals and aid workers during the Haitian earthquake relief effort. Often in austere environments aid workers tend to focus more on the health of disaster survivors than on the safety of themselves and are often susceptible to the physical and mental effects of dehydration and sleep deprivation which can lead them to lose sight of their own safety while assisting the injured and sick. Hear first-hand from some of the doctors and nurses who were there.

"Danger Calls: Haiti" demonstrates that while any disaster relief effort will invariably provide a completely unpredictable environment, not everything unexpected is devastating. While in Haiti the group sees many miracles amid the devastation, from avoided kidnappings and run-ins with escaped prisoners to saving orphans and miraculous close calls.
