"In my eyes, Crye continues to lead the pack when it comes to materials development and innovation in design, as their designs are often inspiration for others. Just like the combat shirt design that Crye first came out with is now commonplace, other 'AirLite-like' plate carriers have been introduced by other manufacturers, or those that utilize similar materials with laser or die cut slots to replace sewn webbing and fabric. The AirLite plate carrier is a specialized piece of equipment that may not be for everyone. I'm not sure it'd be my first choice if I had a lot to carry, as plate carriers like the JPC, AVS or CPC are better suited to heavier loads. But then, none of the other plate carriers will fold up and stuff into a trouser side cargo pocket like the AirLite."
