Tokyo Marui has launched the EVOLT RS FPR MK4, the latest addition to its EVOLT RS electric airsoft rifle series and Hyperdouraku does an early review. The "FPR" name references the Federal Patrol Rifle concept, evoking a modern AR platform designed for law enforcement use, prioritising light weight, mobility, and long-carry comfort over the heavier loadout of military special forces M4 configurations.
Key hardware includes a Geissele MK4-style handguard with M-LOK slots on the sides and underside, a full-length Picatinny rail on top, a Knight's-style flip-up front sight, and an A2-type flash hider with M14 reverse threading for suppressor compatibility. The metal receiver ships in two halves, requiring the user to join them before first use — a nod to real-steel AR assembly.
Internally, the rifle runs Tokyo Marui's M-SYSTEM Type II electronic control unit alongside a revised gearbox that supports takedown — splitting the upper and lower receivers as on a real AR. A new chamber design reduces nozzle wobble, and a 1-by-1 loading system feeds each BB individually to improve trajectory consistency. Power comes from a 7.4V 800mAh Li-Po stick battery housed inside the crane-type stock, connected via an MR30 connector. The STANAG-pattern steel-press magazine holds 81 rounds and includes a real-count 30-round selector switch inside.
A live-fire test at a 40-metre indoor range under windless conditions, using 0.2g, 0.25g, and 0.28g bio BBs, showed flat, stable trajectories — with heavier BBs in particular producing a longer, more consistent arc. The RS series' recoil system, driven by a weight in the buffer tube that is pushed by a shaft linked to the piston, delivers a noticeable kick to the shoulder on each shot. Full-auto fire introduces some muzzle movement due to the recoil mechanism, but groupings remain practical for skirmish use. The rifle measures 724–806mm in length, weighs 3,100g with battery and empty magazine, and carries a retail price of 120,000 yen (tax excluded), this was released last 27 May 2026.
