Hyperdouraku wrote about The 4th Training Weapon Festival (TWF 2026) which they attended on 4-5 April 2026, at the Akihabara UDX Gallery L in Tokyo. This biennial event is organized by NBORDE with support from Systema, the manufacturer of the Professional Training Weapon (PTW). The exhibition space was designed with a dark, professional aesthetic intended to replicate the atmosphere of the SHOT Show held annually in the United States.

At the center of the exhibition, NBORDE introduced its latest product developments, including a conversion kit for the M16A2 receiver. The booth featured 3D-printed resin prototypes of the M727 and M16A2, providing a look at the dimensions and markings of these upcoming releases. These models aim to provide high levels of external detail for PTW users seeking classic rifle configurations.

Technical innovations were a major focus, with DEFCON1 showcasing the launch of the PTW PDR-C. This bullpup-style custom gun integrates the Systema Infinity internal system, allowing for compact dimensions while maintaining PTW magazine compatibility and functional bolt-catch operations. Other custom shops like Gunsmith NBABA displayed unique builds, including modular designs with removable stocks and integrated suppressors.

Several manufacturers presented performance-oriented components and accessories. DCI Guns and Big-Out highlighted internal upgrades such as the D-Chamber and TNT Marksman barrels, which were available for testing at the event's shooting range. Additionally, Seven Seas Shoji and Volk Tactical Gear displayed a range of high-end optics from brands like March and Aimpoint, alongside domestically produced tactical nylon gear.

The event featured a 27-meter shooting range where attendees could test the accuracy and consistency of various PTW setups. Over the course of two days, visitors fired more than 8,000 rounds through demonstration models. Nearby, a speed shooting competition used Acetech electronic targets to track performance, with the winning participant recording a time of 7.27 seconds on a 10-target course.

Community engagement included a custom gun contest hosted by Peace Combat magazine and a charity initiative. Michael from Knight’s Armament Company (KAC) managed a sale of charity T-shirts and rare law enforcement apparel, which sold out during the event. On the main stage, the Jules Alliance group demonstrated law enforcement arrest techniques, featuring a scripted scenario involving the president of NBORDE.

The festival also served as a moment of reflection for the airsoft industry following the recent passing of Systema’s president, Kumi Yoshida. A memorial altar was placed at the venue to allow attendees and industry partners to pay their respects. The event concluded by showcasing the ongoing technical evolution of the PTW platform and the strength of the community surrounding it.
