Blue Jean Operator: Bump Helmets Kinda Suck

Of course you will ask why so better watch the video made by Blue Jean Operator on Bump Helmets... "That's right, I said it, bump helmets kinda suck. Or more so, there are better options out there for what people are generally buying them for.

For the uninitiated, bump helmets are meant to protect your head from getting, as the name implies, BUMPED. AKA bashing your head in.

For this purpose these helmets are made out of plastic (or similar materials), very much like a skateboard helmet. The similarity is so much that early "bump helmets" were in fact skateboard helmets, retrofitted for military use (see Delta operators from Black Hawk Down).

Now before the world of budget friendly high cut helmets, these made some sense for what they were being used for, especially since they are worlds cheaper than say an Ops-Core or Team Wendy ballistic option.

There's also a reason why you don't see world class operators running around in combat with skateboard helmets anymore. High cut ballistic helmets provide similar comfort, while at the same time being able to stop certain ballistic threats, as well as protection from blasts (ask me how I know).

The main justification for purchasing a bump, is that they are a cheap way to mount night vision/ear pro, offer some protection to your head, and you won't have to throw $1000+ dollars for a decent ballistic helmet, with the thought of "spending money on that in the future".

I definitely fell in this category when I first purchased night vision, as I personally did not have the funds for a Ops-Core, so I settled with a Team Wendy bump helmet to get me through.

Now since making this purchase I began to wonder if there were better options out there for the average consumer, that would actually stop bullets/frag, since if I were to actually use my helmet in a serious situation, that is the type of protection I'd want.

This lead me to finding Protection Group Denmark and their line of European made helmets, which offer great ballistic protection, at an affordable price.

Join me today as I go over a few different budget friendly ballistic helmet options that I feel provide better capability than a plastic helmet, while still being in the same general price range. Enjoy!"
