Bang Average Airsoft's Custom KWA Skorpion KZ.61

Bang Average Airsoft details his journey of resurrecting and customizing a KWA KZ.61 Skorpion. The original gun met a tragic end after an unfortunate encounter with a flight of stairs, leaving it with a cracked lower receiver. Rather than retiring the little beast, he manage to find at a boneyard parts for it, essentially performing a heart transplant by swapping the functional internals into a fresh frame.

A significant portion of the presentation focuses on overcoming the Skorpion’s inherent lack of modern attachment points. Avoiding the bulky, 3D-printed rails that previously made the gun look a bit fat, the owner opted for a more streamlined approach using semi-circular mounts. He also tackled the awkward ergonomics of the original wire stock by adding a custom bend, which finally allows the user to aim through the red dot sight without having to contort their neck like a confused heron.

The final build includes a clever fix for the non-threaded barrel, involving a modified suppressor that slides over the muzzle and stays put thanks to a well-placed grub screw. With a new foregrip to keep hands away from the magazine—preventing those pesky jams—and a larger 48-round magazine, the Skorpion has evolved from a broken relic into a functional, unique CQB tool. It might not be to everyone's aesthetic taste, but it certainly beats a pile of broken plastic at the bottom of the stairs.
