4UAD Smart Airsoft takes a very close look at the Ares APR series of airsoft revolvers, which are faithfully modeled after the iconic Smith & Wesson 686. They address the challenges of airsoft revolvers, such as low capacity and difficult reloads, and highlights how the Ares models maintain realism while integrating practical upgrades. A key feature is the inclusion of a functional, adjustable hop-up, which is rare for this class of airsoft gun and allows for usable accuracy. Also shown are details the airsoft shells and demonstrates different methods for fast reloading, including the use of moon clips and speed loaders.
This review focuses on two variants: the classic polished silver APR 02 model and the highly customized, matte black APR 05 "Combat Custom." The APR 02 is the old-school option with real wood grips and a heavy, consistent double-action trigger, while the APR 05 features rubber grips, a lighter cylinder, and competition-tuned internals for an incredibly quick and light trigger pull. A chronometer test on the CO2-powered, non-blowback pistols showed surprisingly consistent velocity for their class.
