We are now wearing new clothes...

OptimusPrime

...and we hope you like the new design. For three years the old site has trudged on and it was trusty and sturdy enough. However, times change and trends in design come and go, so we might as well go with the flow. So here's the new look of the Popular Airsoft website, and we think it won't bore you with the too plain colours that the old website had (**cross fingers**).

The Venezuelan Airsoft Community Needs Your Support

OptimusPrime

Javier Brito of the Airsoft SWAT Team of Venezuela reports to us of a  Law, called the Ley Para La Prohibicion de Videojuegos Belicos y Jueguetes Belicos (Law for the Prohibition of Warlike Games and Toys), at the Venezuelan National Assembly. The Venezuelan Airsoft Community may have a breather for now as there will be an upcoming elections of the National Assembly on 26 September, but they are not taking any chances and they are working hard on having the law amended.

US SOCOM Cancels MK-16 SCAR, Goes for the Heavy One

Logan

This story has been circulating since late last month, but not all is lost for the FN, which won the contract for supplying US SPEC OPS Command the FN SCAR as they want more deliveries of the 7.62 MK-17, more known as SCAR-H in the airsoft community according to Military.com.

8 Minutes: An Airsoft Film

Gungho Cowboy

This was dropped off at Optimus Prime's email box, and after checking out the Youtube movie clips, all we can just say is... "Wow! This is serious!" The Airsoft Film 8 Minutes production was really good, even for starters. Optimus Prime has been dabbling on creating short movies with his HD-DSLR camera and slowly building up his equipment to properly make some stories on airsoft, but this one's out of his league.

Ottawa Police Seeks to Regulate Airsoft Guns

Gungho Cowboy

It's the Canadians' turn this time to have their own set of problems regarding the use of airsoft and air guns for purposes other than their intended use. Please do notice that the concerns usually are about young people recklessly and irresponsibly using these replica weapons and air rifles resulting into alarm and injuries.  Frankly, I am personally for restricting the sale of airsoft guns, allowing adults 18 years and above to be able to buy realistic looking replica guns, just like how Sweden does it, and their local community is well-known in implementing that limitation.

Lower Nazareth BB Gun Death not caused with an Airsoft Gun

Logan

Before those who advocate the banning of airsoft guns for skirmishes and leisure shooting start pointing to this story that an airsoft gun is behind the death of a 19 year old Lower Nazareth, should read again the Coroner's report. The death was caused by the traditional BB gun according to the Police, which means the victim was hit in the head with a steel BB that is coated with copper or zinc, which can be a .177 cal (4.5mm), 0.33g-0.45g.

Airsoft Island Get-Away Mrčara

OptimusPrime

When you're driving up and down the country trying out all those skirmish sites, sometimes it also dawns on you if you can play at some exotic place far from the usual sceneries you are used to. For me, it's always like that, and I often try to make it a point to get away and play airsoft at another place, far, far away. You can call me airsoft tourist if you want, and I won't take it as an offence.

Smith & Wesson fires a shot at Cybergun

Logan

More and more airsoft news and information sites are getting on the case of Cybergun. Everything Airsoft posted news a few days ago that Smith & Wesson has filed a lawsuit against Cybergun in the District of Arizona for trademark infringements and Unfair competition. We all know that Cybergun has bought the rights to license S&W trademarks in the airsoft market.

Don't use this "Light Saber" as your backup during games

Gungho Cowboy

Ahhh, the feeling of being a Jedi Knight, charging into battle deflecting laser beams and slicing through skin, bone, and metal effortlessly. I stumbled into this story at News.com, got confused with what they have written (even the author was), and tried to check out the website for what this "light saber" is all about.
