The B&T BWC9 Folding Firearm Chassis Is Finally Going To Be Available

B&T BWC9

The BWC9 is an accessory from B&T that transforms a firearm into a compact and discreet folding weapon. It looks like a harmless case when folded, but it can be quickly deployed into a ready-to-fire position. The BWC9 is not a complete firearm, but rather a chassis that accepts the P320 fire control unit and slide assembly. You need to have your own P320 components to use the BWC9. It does not work with suppressor height sights, but it comes with an Aimpoint ACRO P-2 optic.

Originally scheduled to be launched in late 2022, but obviously, it got delayed. Many people expected it to be a standalone firearm, but it turned out to be an accessory for the P320 platform. This was a surprising twist, as it was expected that the BWC9 to be a unique folding weapon option. The only other similar product on the market is the Magpul/ZEV Technologies FDP-9/FDC-9, which is a complete firearm that also folds into a case-like shape.

The B&T BWC9 and the FDP-9/FDC-9 have some similarities, such as their case-like appearance and their ability to fold and unfold in seconds. However, they also have some differences, such as their stock design and their carry handle. The B&T BWC9 has an angled stock that provides a more comfortable shooting position, while the FDP-9/FDC-9 has a straight-line stock that aligns with the bore axis. The B&T BWC9 has a fixed carry handle that doubles as a sight mount, while the FDP-9/FDC-9 has a removable carry handle that exposes a top rail for optics.

The carry handle on the B&T BWC9 is not just for carrying, but also for aiming. It has a flat rail on top that allows you to mount optics through the handle. The included Aimpoint ACRO P-2 is the recommended optic for the BWC9, as it offers a clear and crisp sight picture. The carry handle also has cutouts on the sides that let you access the charging handle and the slide release.

The BWC9 is easy to operate, as it only requires one simple motion to fold or unfold. To unfold the BWC9, you just need to push back on the charging handle and pull down on the magazine and grip. The magazine will extend out of the magazine-well halfway when folded, so you need to push it in fully before firing. To fold the BWC9, you just need to pull out the magazine halfway, fold up the magazine and grip, and lift the cheek piece. The whole weapon will then fold into itself.

The BWC9 is very compact when folded, measuring only 12 inches long and 8 inches wide. It looks like a small laptop or briefcase, making it easy to conceal and transport. It has a fixed carry handle that lets you carry it like a normal case, or you can attach a sling or strap for more options. The BWC9 is ideal for personal defense which when unfolded, becomes a stable shooting platform.

The B&T BWC9 folding chassis is currently available for pre-order in the U.S., with prices ranging from US$2,300 to US$2,500. The installation of a Sig Sauer P320 Fire Control Unit into the BWC9 will result in the manufacture of a Short Barrelled Rifle (SBR) and NFA regulations will apply.

There is no information clear whether there will be an airsoft version of the BWC9 in the future, but it would certainly be an interesting product for airsoft enthusiasts.
