Wired: 10 Sci-Fi Weapons That Actually Exist

OptimusPrime

It's a slow start for the week as there's nothing really new in the airsoft, real steel, and even video game front to report and most of airsoft sellers are preparing for the biggest sale event of the year which had already started last week, but will reach its crescendo this weekend. So looking around online and checking Wired.com as they always have something interesting to read about, they write about some "10 Sci-Fi Weapons That Actually Exist."

Going over the list, most, if not all of the items included in the list might just give you a "hohum" since you might have already read about these, or watched episodes of "Future Weapons." But if you're still curious on what these are, you can just click the link above to start going through the list.

It'll be an interesting thing to see an XM-25 launcher for airsoft use, even if it's just props for photoops or perhaps more like a nerf gun. As for the killbots, they're already going after gamers in Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Some of these will never have airsoft versions such as the Active Denial Systems which are non-lethal weapons designed for crowd control and dictators, one party, and theocratic regimes would love these. As for the green laser, we would rather not see people, especially airsoft players abuse this, since they are easily available and there are reports of people using this against aircraft and can damage the eyes.

However, there is something that I did like among the lethal weapons "THE BEDAZZLER: A Do-it-yourself Handheld LED-Incapacitator" that can cause "Nausea, dizziness, headache, flashblindness, eye pain and (occasional?) vomiting!" Though they don’t recommend this being used on your friends and pets, it is also an open source thing, meaning that you can easily make your own. If you want to induce mass nausea, you can foist unto hapless but annoying party goers, but it does have a good purpose too as it has a disco mode that would give some dazzling but harmless light shows.
