This is an interesting video that Thumpy's Scoop.it Page posted. With the recent killings in Connecticut have brought about to the fore the gun control debate in the US. The debate has been obscured by emotional outbursts on the part of those who support strongly their 2nd Amendment Rights and those who want more safety and control on gun ownership such as background checks and mental capabilities of those seeking to purchase firearms.

As said in the video, airsoft and real steel go hand in hand with airsoft taking its development from the firearms industry and offering a way of handling firearms safely, or as a fill-gap measure when firearms ownership is either banned or extremely hard to achieve especially in countries outside of the USA. The USA, even if many airsoft players from other countries may not understand it, has a deeply ingrained firearms culture that is brought about by the need to combat tyranny during the American Revolution and the frontier spirit that formed to what we know as the USA today. With the 2nd Amendment, the USA is the only the country that has its constitution the right to bear arms. Thus, this constitutional guarantee is very unique and forms the foundation of how the gun culture developed in the country.

With the issue of gun control, airsoft may be affected, with the instances of gun and airsoft control in California that might serve as a model for a federal legislation. So what should concern airsoft players in the US is to be on their guard to ensure that their access to airsoft guns is protected, and as well as support those who have a very reasonable and compelling positions in the support the 2nd Amendment.

Let's not let emotions rule the debate as these won't help win or even make an informed citizenry as facts get obscured.  It's something for us to reflect on this weekend.
