Two Advanced Weapons From Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Logan

"Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" is still months away from release but there is anticipation if this title would deliver the goods and continue with the blockbuster tradition of the Call of Duty franchise. So far, there is no major first person player title that stands in the way near its planned release in November (read: Battlefield/Medal of Honor). By the mere name itself, the video game promises a more high-tech environment and we expect more advanced weaponry.

Apart from the vehicles, manned and unammed, such as the drones, hover bike, and exoskeletons for super human strength, we're more interested in the weapons that will be carried by the player as they play both single and multiplayer modes. So far, according to Game Informer, there are two advanced weapons in the arsenal for the player apart from other weaponry that trace their roots from the weapons that we use today.

Plasma-Powered Rifle

An energy weapon, this weapon has two versions, a vehicle mounted one that can blast vehicles into smithereens and the more portable one that will be carried by the player which is designed for taking down infantry. You can see in the stock that there is a "Plasma Reactor Fuel" tank which we hope is armored enough to take in hits or else the player will be holding a weapon that can explode anytime when the weapon gets dinged. When you see a blue-streak coming for you, that'll be a plasma rifle being fired at you, so duck if you can.

3D-Printer Rifle

Taking inspiration from the 3D printing revolution happening nowadays, the developer, Sledgehammer Games, have designed this rifle that will be able to print out its own ammo. All a player has to do is  load a canister/tank of liquid matter into the rifle and pull the bolt for the liquid matter to be printed into ammo.

It seems a laughable idea of being able to print your own bullets with your rifle, but I appreciate the idea, airsoft-wise. Just imagine a 3D printer small enough to put into your buttstock and put in a liquid plastic that will then be print out BBs that you can fill your empty mags with whilst in the field. Or even print out a small spare part on the spot to fix a rifle. Hmmmm….

We still don't have the full list of weapons that will be used in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Some may just be familiar as many weapons designed in our period may still be used 30 years from now just like how we use weapons designed for the Second World War and the Cold War. In the following weeks and months, more information will be revealed on the game details as the noise about the game reaches its crescendo.

Game Informer also visited Sledgehammer Games where they get to interview the studio heads. So what differentiates "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" from the previous titles? They answer that question in the video below:
