A year ago, the Tokyo Marui M4 CQB-R Block 1 was released, the second gas blowback rifle released by the company after the M4A1 MWS. This uses the MWS with the ZET System which was designed to make the gas blowback rifle last longer and more durable. This rifle is based on the CQB-R designed by the US Naval Surface Warfare Center and is a replacement upper receiver for the M4A1 Carbine. Announced during the 4th Tokyo Marui Festival is the new Type 89 Gas Blowback Rifle. This is the 4th in the gas blowback rifles that the company will be releasing as based on their MWS-ZET gas blowback system. Based on the JSDF Type 89 5.56mm Rifle, this is expected to be released in Spring 2018.
