This was not covered by the airsoft media during the Shot Show 2012, but there are some discussions in airsoft forums about this upcoming product from Crye Precision called "Spartan" a maxillofacial ballistic protection system, which of course, you now know where its name takes its inspiration from. If you haven't watched "300" movie, where have you been?

This is not exactly a very new product from Crye Precision, since this is an improvement on their existing "AirFrame Chops" which is a maxillofacial protection system that requires Crye Precision AirFrame side mounted helmet rails, which is their version that went head to head against the OPS-CORE ACH-ARC kit.

Crye Precision did away with the AirFrame rail to create the Cry Precision Spartan, and this can be attached to standard ACH helmet with not other accessory or tools required to immediately get maxillofacial protection. The result of course is that you will look like one of those of Spartan Warriors who died at the Battle of Thermopylae. The Spartan is flexible enough that it can adjust to your rifle butt's cheekpiece allowing you lower profile whilst looking through the rifle sights. Other head-mounted accessories such as NVG goggles and eye ballistic protection can easily be worn without any interference from the Spartan.

With the next generation helmet search of the US Army heating up, Crye Precision gets into the fray with a simpler, easy to install solutiuon for a maxillofacial ballistic protection system. One of the requirements of the US Army is that it should not change the standard ACH helmet now in use among the soldiers and the Crye Precision Spartan does not, giving it some advantage over other competition with more complicated contraptions.

The only competition that we see for Crye Precision's Spartan that is closest to the requirements of the US Army is MTEK's Predator Facial Armor System, but still has more contraptions than the Spartan. Here's a simple video demo of the Spartan for you to note how simple it is to install and use.

And again, as Crye Precision's products are one of the most copied among Chinese replica manufacturers, you may never know that the airsoft community would have this before Crye Precision makes this available for the civilian market. You get to shout "THIS IS SPARTA!!!" in full guccicam glory.
