Sniper vs. Sniper Event After Action Report

Foxactual

The Sniper vs. Sniper Event was a private game hosted by Kultabashi and Voltaire Domingo of the Filipino Airsoft Snipers group. It had a strict 15-players-only limit and 12 of us showed up that day. I pulled into the designated parking area at KM 14. There I saw other players tinkering with their rifles.

This was no ordinary sight as on regular days, you only see a couple to a handful of players doing so. Today, everyone was tinkering and geeking out over their sniper rifles. Today, there were not only one or two bolt actions, but several came along with DMRs.

My jaw dropped at the beauty of these guns.

I stepped out of my car and Kulta quickly introduced me to the players. I usually have my hesitations when meeting people because of me being an introvert, but as the day progressed I came to know these gentlemen and they were great company.

We started off the day with a quick skirmish at the warehouse while waiting for the others. It was a very quiet game. Everyone was sneaking around, aiming down their sights, trying to find scope glints, and relaying enemy position to their team.

It was a game unlike any other. Despite the silence, my heart raced. I was thrilled! I was in the midst of like-minded people. I never would have realized that there existed such a group that were as dedicated to sniping outside of the people I already knew.

What really struck me was one of the scenarios in particular. I was teamed up with Doc Mike, Volt and Samuel. We were tasked with retaking the Kill House. Doc Mike was our squad leader.

The team gave input to Doc Mike on the given situation and we all agreed on the plan. We were directed to the inside the warehouse to proceed to our target. The team moved swiftly and silently. Passing on hand signals, maintaining distance and leapfrogging while covering those who were moving. It was a great feeling.

You wouldn’t see this type of movement from your every Saturday shoot ‘em up airsofters. These guys knew what they were doing. Samuel had the only semi-automatic weapon in the squad. I lead as pointman most of the way while stopping at certain waypoints to inform our TL of the given situation.
Doc Mike agreed to take the circular mansion and rest once we established perimeter. We moved quickly inside and cleared every room. My heart raced. I hyperventilated. I did not run, nor did I climb anything. It was all adrenaline. Boy, what a feeling it was.

Phase 1 was completed. We established our “eyes-on-objective” overwatch point in the mansion. Doc Mike gave the orders to rest for 10 minutes to see if anything escalated outside.

I consulted Doc Mike and Volt with a plan to retake the Kill House, which was across the road.

We found ourselves in KM 14’s old staging area overwatching the Kill House’s windows and entry point. I signaled to Volt. I needed someone to do overwatch from my position while I ran across the road to get into a breaching position.

Volt called Sam over via hand signal. Sam went prone beside me and placed his crosshairs at the rear entrance. Volt was on top one level watching the windows. Doc Mike scanned the perimeter.

I motioned to Volt what I was about to do. He understood with a nod. I whispered to Sam to wish me luck as I was about to cross the road. Sam tightened his grip.

My heart started to beat fast again.

“Let’s do this,” I told myself.

I grabbed my clear, spring, orange-tip Beretta pistol in one hand. I stood up, and made a run for it across the road while clenching my rifle in my left hand.

I made it.

I quickly motioned to Doc Mike to cross and provide me with some support. He ran across while Volt and Sam covered him.

He made it across. I told him that we were running out of time. Should we have been compromised while moving across, we needed to act now. He agreed, but he didn’t have a pistol so he couldn’t enter the Kill House.

I motioned that I would clear it from the rear entrance and told him to wait for my call. He nodded while he motioned for Volt and Sam to get ready to cross.
I made my way to the back and dropped my rifle to clear the Kill House. Moving around in tight, dark spaces was very difficult. I was hyperventilating. I needed to open my mouth wide underneath my mask so that no one would hear me hyperventilating.

I was fortunate to find one tango facing the other way. I shot him with my pistol and he jumped up, surprised while he called hit. I went back to the entrance to regroup my teammates, but I let them know I was coming out or else they would have shot the first thing that they saw leaving the area.

We were in!

Volt quickly took our selfies when we got in (This was our primary mission aside from holding down the Kill House).

Mission accomplished!

We were to hold that area for awhile longer. I was killed in the process by someone able to sneak up in one of the entrances. However, I was already satisfied at what we had accomplished as a team.

That was teamwork. For some reason, it flowed through us four. I had never met these gentlemen before, yet it seemed like we understood each other’s movements.

That was my favorite part of the day. We played a few more rounds after that and ended the day with smiles.

What an event it was.

I tell you, to those who did not go, you definitely missed out on a great experience.

I’m already signed up for the next one and expressed my interest to help organize the next one to make it even better.

Everyone resting while Kultabashi prepares the next set of scenario

I thank you for an awesome experience that you shared with me. You snipers are at the front in leading the group and the rest of the airsoft community on what sniping is about as well as having fun doing so.

These guys are honest, topnotch airsofters. I invited them to join us at the Redwing Games and will openly welcome them if they do come by.

I look forward to the next time we all get together.
