Shooters Ready For The 5.11 Challenge: Asian Action Air Open 2011

OptimusPrime

Action Air, or Airsoft Practical Shooting will have its first PPSA-IPSC Sanctioned Level 3 Match at the 5.11 Challenge, the first international Action Air Open that will be held in the Philippines in two weeks' time. Top action air shooters mainly from Asian countries such as the best from the Philippines and Hong Kong will be going through the courses in a test of skills and speed.

Action Air is the fastest growing segment of airsoft, and it's very competitive in Asia where players from different countries visit each other in various Action Air tournaments. While it's big in Hong Kong and the Philippines; Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Singapore are not far behind.

The 5.11 Challenge will be held on the 3rd to the 5th of June 2011 at the Subic Bay Freeport in the City of Olongapo in the Philippines, the former US Naval base which was the biggest naval facility outside of the US. Now it's thriving freeport zone with world class facilities. While it has its own international airport, international passengers will need to fly to Clark International/Diosdado Macapagal International Airport, which is just under an hour away from Subic. All international participants, officials, and guests will be transported to and from the airport.

The 5.11 Challenge is also a part of the President Nonoy Aquino Championship, which is the real steel IPSC shooting tournament.

Applications for interested tournament participants is now closed, as the deadline for application was on the 15th of May 2011. But if you are interested to observe how Action Air tournaments are conducted, you are free to travel to Subic and watch how some of the best Action Air shooters in the world prove their mettle.

Popular Airsoft will be covering the event and we are also seeking Action Air activities in the UK and the rest of Europe to cover. You can join the community at the Action Air Community website and also follow the 5.11 Challenge preparation at their Facebook page.
