At The Second British Airsoft Show

Riversphynxz

It's the 2nd year of the British Airsoft Show and it is bigger and better as promised. It is a side event of the British Shooting Show which was held at the Stoneleigh Park International Exhibition Centre in Kenilworth for a second year now. The Centre is over 200,000 sq. feet of space, featuring the latest and greatest (airsoft) guns, and accessories. Due to a large turn out last year, the organizer decided to have 3 days instead of 2, to accommodate all the crowd. I decide to go on the first day and I was surprised that there was not much people inside, it could be because it was Valentine's, also being Friday which was still a work day; and the weather was not very good but I took this opportunity to do my photo shoot.

OptimusPrime and MasterChief were supposed to go on Saturday, but were unable to as train problems worsened as brought about by gale force winds and flooded routes. In the past weeks, the British Isles have been battered by bad weather with the Southwest seeing floods and coastal areas under the mercy of winds and waves. Thus, the reporting from Popular Airsoft is based on my Friday visit and this will be supplemented by other reports that Popular Airsoft will receive from other sources in the following days.

I was lucky that I just live a just a several minutes away and my route was all clear to go to the event.

Walking round, I'm excited to see familiar faces. Retailers like RedWolf, JD Airsoft, The Grange, Pro Airsoft Supplies, Badgertac, Swindon Airsoft, Just BB, and Enola Gaye, dominated the floor. Airsoft International Magazine is of course the main co-organiser for this year and visited their booth that shows their newly designed logo that's gracing the latest edition of the print magazine. Airsoft Action Magazine was there too.

Dave's Customs Airsoft who do customs airsoft guns which was also there last year. The first year exhibitors were Landwarrior Airsoft; Camolab who can hydro dip your favourite airsoft rifle to the camo you want; and Bel Tec with their BB shield (6mm clear plastic) that will protect your optics and also put on display their Sentry Gun.

This futuristic looking piece of kit is made by Grant Belben and soon will be a big hit in your skirmish site. A 3-legged monster with 360-degree turning turret which you can mount 1 or 2 airsoft rifles and a camera (with night capabilities) on top, protected by their own BB Shield looked very indestructible. Remotely operated from a  small control box with live screen, so you can sit comfy inside a safe place while shooting your enemies. It also has a small metal pad in front that will deactivate the kit for few second if hit by a bb.

Also appearing for the first time in a public exhibit are the PolarStar Airsoft rifles from The Grange. Powered by high pressure compressed air inside your small tank hidden in your hydration pack, you won't have to worry about the cold weather ruining your game. You can adjust power and rate of fire independent of each other because of the Fusion Engine technology.

The biggest area of the British Airsoft Show was the Stirling Airsoft CQB arena where the uninitiated are given an orientation by the efficient and highly professional guys from Stirling Airsoft. They have the usual inflatable walls used last year which proved to be very much a convenient way of immediately putting up an airsoft indoor arena and being able to store it away for future use after.

Over all, British Airsoft Show 2 was a nice day out to meet and chat with friends and new faces about our favourite sport. Definitely, I'll be coming back next year, and hope that the weather gets better as the past two years, the weather didn’t cooperate at all.
