Photos from the War and Peace Show 2010

The War and Peace Show just concluded yesterday and the next one's scheduled for the 20th to the 24th of July 2011. We were there Saturday, 24 July, and I was happy to be accompanied by Major Problem of ACE Brigade Wolf Pack. We arrived rather late, a little bit past 1300H and looking for parking spaces was tough. We arrived hungry but determined to make the most of the day. So we rammed down our throats the sandwiches made by Major Problem and whipped out cameras and immediately went to the Arena where the military vehicle presentations and military reenactments were made.

The familiar vehicles and exhibits were there alright, as were the booths and stalls of airsoft and militaria vendors at their usual places like last year. It was Major Problem's first visit to the annual show, and he enjoyed it to the max, filling up his CF cards taking photos with his camera, while the camera I brought pales in comparison to what he has.

It was hot and dusty that day, with the vehicles bringing up thick dust into the air as they paraded around the arena. We didn't mind such inconvenience as the sight of these vehicles more than made up the heat and dust cake forming on our faces as we sweated taking photos. The German tiger tank that I always look forward to seeing too wasn't at the arena, unfortunately. That tank that was used in the Saving Private Ryan movie. The Lancaster bomber swooped down in the afternoon as one World War II reenactment went on.

I was not rewarded with the item that I was looking for at the show, as it was too rare to find. And the Marconi Bowman PRR set that I wanted to get didn't get bought as no one was around to answer my questions about the unit, the booth owner was out somewhere and the assistant cannot answer even just simple questions.

The best part for me was finally sitting down at the Mobile Coffee Shop beside the Help for Heroes tent. The coffee and pudding were fantastic and most of the patrons who were mainly veterans having tea or coffee took turns talking to us about their war stories. Just talking to them was an honour for us. I took note to spend most of my time there next year if that coffee shop would setup again next year.

Here are some photos we've taken, unprocessed and there are more of these at our Facebook page. Hope you enjoy looking at them and see you at the next year's show.
