It's another long weekend for us in the UK, which means three day of airsoft for those not afraid to go out in the rain and play airsoft. It's another downtime for us and it has been a busy May for Popular Airsoft,  as traffic is getting higher again. We're not chairsofters so we might as well use this weekend for going to the field and exchange bbs with other players.

Now, on to our story. You might be wondering why we have the former Guvernator's Terminator 1 screenshot as our teaser image. If you look at the photo, you'll notice that the .45 calibre AMT Hardballer Longslide pistol he used comes with laser sight mounted on it. Yes, that's a Surefire laser sight and it's part of the 12 most important moments in Surefire's history. Surefire LLC have been making products for over 30 years which are used in military, law enforcement, and outdoors. Their products are also the most copied for airsoft use.

In commemoration of 30 years in business, they have released their Surefire 30th Anniversary Collectors Set which is comprised of the E1B ultra compact dual-output flashlight, and the SureFire Pen which is made of high-strength aluminium. They are having matching engrave serials numbers and will arrive in a box with a certificate of authenticy by the company's found, Dr. John Matthews. This is a limited edition set, with 1,800 sets made and cost at US$590.00 each.

Surefire was founded in 1979 by Dr. John Matthews, known as Laser Products, in Southern California. Together with Ed Reynolds and Peter Hauk they developed the first laser sights with the Model 7 Laser sight released on the same year. Their laser sights came into more prominence when these were used bu the LA Police Department during the 1984 Summer Olympics in LA. The name "Surefire" came to use when they branded a handgun mounted light. They then branced into illumination, releasing the 6P, a compact and hight intensity flashlight in 1988.

By 1996, they were steady developing Surefire tactical lights, establishing the Surefire Institute to develop training using low-light tactics. By year 2001, Laser Products became the Surefire LLC which is a testament that the product brand has outgrown the company brand. From the year 2003 up to now, they have been developing flashlights using LEDs, becoming a pioneer in developing the technology. Furthermore, they branched into development of knives with their Edged Weapons Division, weapons mounts, headmounted lamps, suppressors, ear/hearing protection and their awesome HellFighter weapons light that can also be used a search and rescue light.

MadBull Airsoft has some licences to develop products under the name of Surefire, with mock suppressors and muzzle brakse. Below is their company history video:
