One Grunt's Opinion On Custom Weathered Look On Airsoft Guns

OptimusPrime

Let's  start the week with something Darkhorse of One Grunt's Opinion posting that airsoft players can talk about --- the custom weathered look on airsoft guns. I am amazed at efforts of airsoft players to give their airsoft guns a weathered look just to look the part, even with brand new airsoft guns that just got taken out of the box.

Personally, I prefer just letting time, wear and wear due to use do that since it will be more of a natural way of getting that weathered look. But I am also fascinated by those who take time and effort to do such custom job that are actually look good, even if they were made to look very much worn and "vintage", so to speak.

Do you think it's absurd or applaud those who do it to be creative? We'll let Darkhorse set the mood for this topic:

So here's a good discussion point.

What do you think of the weathered paint job look where guys make a paint job on their rifle look old and aged by the weather?

Is it good, is it awesome, is it stupid, does it kill the resale value, is it a must to be accurate for an impression, or is it just guys trying to look the part too much?
You tell me.

I think it's pointless but it is also an art for guys that enjoy it. So have fun doing it if you like the look and bravo to those skilled at it. It's not easy to do it well and takes talent. I just rather slap paint on and just let nature run its course. But that's just me.

I will say this, I randomly pulled this pic from a Google search (shown above) and don't know who to credit. So don't get butt hurt if it's yours or if you know who's it is just give credit in the comments.
