UCAP's Andy Stevens Sentenced For Theft

OptimusPrime

Well, if you have been looking for some news to spice up the airsoft scene apart from the usual gun and gear news (or porn for those who take it that way), here is one from United Kingdom where airsoft groups on social media have already been talking about this for several days now.

As many in the UK airsoft scene probably know by now, Andy Stevens of UCAP has been sentenced to two years in prison by the Portsmouth Crown Court for conspiracy to steal to sell military equipment to an interested buyer in Japan. He was caught at Heathrow airport when the radioactive signature of the Night Vision equipment he was carrying triggered a security alert. He was on his way to Hong Kong and attempted to bring the stolen goods with him.

The equipment that were sold were taken from the Stirling Lines Army Camp, the SAS camp located in Herefordshire. His co-conspirators, army stores NCO, 30-year old Craig Davenport, had keys to the stores, and together with fellow squadie, 28-year old Stephen Suffield, were able to get night vision goggles, silencers, and sights. Stevens then finds buyers in the Far East for the equipment and around £45,000 worth of equipment was said to have been stolen.

Davenport was sentenced to 22 months in jail whilst Suffield was given an 18-month suspended sentence with 200 hours of unpaid work.

Andy Stevens is behind UCAP and runs an airsoft company called Cracking Day Limited. He met Davenport when he joined in one of the airsoft events the company organised. They communicated via the Whatsapp mobile app under the “Boys Toys” group.
