Whilst in airsoft we love muzzle flash generating devices in the real steel world, it's about mitigating the flash signature. In this video Big Tex Ordnance tests the SureFire RC3 and RC2 in a 2-part video. A variety of Surefire muzzle devices are tested with both the RC2 and RC3 suppressors to compare their flash signatures. The devices tested include the Surefire Muzzle Brake, A2 Birdcage Flash Hider, 3-Prong Flash Hider, Closed Tine Flash Hider, and Closed Tine WarComp. The tests are conducted using 12.5” Hodge Defense uppers and Magtech 55gr 5.56 ammunition for consistency. The RC3 generally exhibits less flash than the RC2, although results vary with different muzzle devices. The 3-prong flash hider pairs best with the RC3. High-speed footage of each device is shown for comparison. This initial test focuses on flash signature, with plans for future tests involving different ammo types and barrel lengths, as well as comparisons with other popular rifle suppressors.
