SOCOM Tactical got the Mark 18 AEG from Arthurian Airsoft and they give their take on this airsoft rifle... "This gun is part of the ‘Excalibur' range of AEGs. The range are fully constructed using metal with multiple options to change and personalise the gun. The gun is a bronze colour and is9.5” in length, leaving plenty of rail space for attachments. It is the idea size for the operator ‘C Clamp.’

The rail system for the Excalibur Mark 18 is based off the Daniel Defense 'CQBR' and dubbed as the MK18.’ There are 22 rail slots available meaning there is more than enough space to add additional parts onto the gun. The upper receiver has the standard 20mm Picatinny rail on the top with the laser engraved 'T' number markings which continue onto the rail system.

The forward assist, although dummy, still moves back and forth when pressed. A nice design feature compared to some fixed, moulded forward assists. The dust cover locks into place and flips down when the charging handle is pulled, this also reveals the hop up unit.

When the mock bolt plate comes back, it locks into place so the user can easily adjust the hop up without having to keep pulling the charging handle back. This can be released again by pressing the bolt stop on the lower receiver. The thread on the upper receiver is the standard thread size for most rails designed for airsoft AEGs, making customisation of the rail endless.

The most impressive feature of the gun is the E&C quick change spring system. To change the spring you simply need to unscrew the ring on the stock tube then rotate the tube 45 degrees and it will come off easily.

The Gearbox

The gun is equipped with an impressive gearbox, made from the components vital to most mid-range AEGs. What makes the Excalibur series stand out, is that these guns come preinstalled with 8mm bearings, a 15 metal tooth piston, an enhanced tappet plate and the E&C spring change system.
