Mach Sakai: Tokyo Marui M870 Tactical

Mach Sakai takes another look at the features and field performance of the Tokyo Marui Gas Shotgun M870 Tactical, a gas-powered pump-action replica retailing at ¥34,800. The design incorporates an adjustable rear sight, an integrated rail for optics, and a capacity to hold extra shot shells in the magazine tube. A key operational feature is the lever that allows the user to easily select between firing 3 or 6 BBs simultaneously with each shot.

He notes that the M870 is approximately 95cm long and weighs 2792g with the gas tank and magazine installed. The pump action is powered by a removable gas tank housed within the stock and is described as light and smooth to operate, which facilitates the use of its rapid-fire function. He demonstrated the process of accessing the gas tank and loading the 30-round shell-style magazine.

Performance testing included firing at silhouette targets placed at distances between 6 and 10 meters. The results indicated consistent groupings for both the 3-shot and 6-shot modes, using 0.2g and 0.25g BBs. Chronograph measurements placed the muzzle velocity in the 65-68 m/s range. He ends the episode with the M870 in practical shooting exercises, affirming its suitability for airsoft gameplay.
