L'Antre Du Dingo takes a good look at the Whirligig 3 impact grenade from 40 Max. This is an improved version designed for those who prefer throwing plastic spheres at friends rather than just talking to them. Unlike the previous version that required two hands and a bit of a struggle to unlock, this model features a simple thumb-operated button. It comes in 120 and 200-round capacities, weighing about 300 grams, which is enough to make a teammate notice you but hopefully not enough to cause an unplanned trip to the doctor if you follow the field rules.
Ding says the construction uses aluminum for the body and a durable, flexible plastic for the ends to handle repeated landings on hard surfaces. It is easy to prepare by injecting gas and loading BBs into a spiral chamber. One convenient feature is the ability to "disarm" the device; if you pull it out to clear a room only to find it empty, you can simply switch it back to safe and tuck it away for later rather than being forced to commit to the toss.
In testing, the grenade showed a reliable spread of BBs within a five-meter radius, making it a cost-effective alternative to single-use pyrotechnics. While filling it might occasionally feel like trying to feed a stubborn toddler due to the BB loader angle, the overall build is sturdy. It provides a straightforward way to add some mechanical excitement to a match without needing a degree in engineering to make it go off.
