Check out the chest rigs used by the Delta Force in the 1980s by The Gear Locker. He two specific types of chest rigs utilized by Delta Force operators during late 1980s operations, particularly the invasion of Panama (Operation Just Cause). The first rig discussed is a custom-made black chest rig, sometimes called the "bonus strike vest," which first appeared around 1984 and was primarily used by A Squadron during Operation Acid Gambit, the raid to rescue Kurt Muse from Modello prison. This vest features three main magazine pouches and smaller side pouches, characterized by brass buttons and a simple design with quick-release buckles.
The second chest rig is the iconic Strike Vest, commonly associated with C Squadron and seen throughout Operation Just Cause and later engagements like Operation Gothic Serpent. This vest is often a distinctive Nutria brown color, features two large radio pockets on the sides, four rifle magazine pockets (two with covers), and four pistol magazine pouches with elastic retention, demonstrating functional differences based on the unit's operational needs. Both reproductions featured in the video were custom-made by GMBB Solutions, highlighting the attention to historical accuracy in materials and construction for these influential pieces of military gear.
