Gel Ball Nobody upgrades a nylon CYMA SCAR-L gel blaster that already had an M100 spring installed, which was yielding around 300-310 FPS. The upgrade was initiated to resolve issues with poor air seals, particularly at the cylinder head, to unlock the full potential of the spring and improve overall performance.
The upgrade involved a complete teardown of the gearbox. He replaced the factory cylinder head O-ring and piston to create a perfect air seal. Furthermore, the plastic shims were swapped for metal ones to accurately set the gear mesh, and the cylinder volume was matched to the barrel length for optimal efficiency and power.
The internal modifications resulted in a significant performance boost, with the blaster's velocity unexpectedly jumping to an average of 370 FPS, which is extremely high and attributed to the flawless air seal. Gel Ball Nobody successfully transformed the SCAR-L intoa powerful and lightweight unit, though he noted that players adhering to field limits should likely swap back to an M90 spring to maintain velocity closer to the 300 FPS mark.
