6mm Badger walks us through the upgrades he made on the APFG XM7. He kicks off his latest project by overhauling the externals of the APFG XM7, transforming the base rifle into a high-end tactical powerhouse. For his sighting system, he migrated a battle-proven setup from his VFC KS1, featuring a SIG Sauer Tango MSR 1-6x LPVO perched on a Unity Tactical FAST mount. To ensure versatility in close-quarters transitions, he added a side-mounted ACRO P2 red dot at a 45-degree angle, providing a seamless shift from magnification to 1x aiming.
The ergonomics of the build received a significant boost with a curated selection of premium furniture. He opted for the Magpul K2 Plus pistol grip for its superior texture and a BCM KAG4 angled foregrip, which he found to be the perfect match for his hand position after testing several alternatives. This setup is complemented by a SOMO Gear PEC16 VCSEL laser unit, controlled via a Unity Tactical AXON switch for intuitive thumb activation and clean wire management.
To round out the aesthetic, he chose the OG Carbon Works Forged Carbon Stubby mock suppressor over more traditional milsim options. This "Chode" suppressor gives the XM7 a distinct, custom look while keeping the overall profile compact and maneuverable. With over $1,500 invested in external accessories alone, the build is visually complete, though he’s already teasing a future deep dive into internal upgrades like the inner barrel and hop rubber.
