The Gunship the stuck fear in insurgents and terrorists, the US Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) finally retired the last of the AC-130H Spectre Gunships which they announced last 28 May 2015. At the forefront of the AFSOC's missions in Afghanistan, Iraq and other Specops missions, it is a heavily armed airborne gunship that can provide air to ground support for troops. Call of Duty Modern Warfare players would be most familiar with this plane as it's one of the perks in multiplayer mode.
To replace the AC-130H Spectre, the AFSOC will be receiving 32 new AC-130J Ghostrider gunships by 2012.
