Only Hi-Capa shows the finished build of an airsoft Hi-Capa using a 5KU IMM Open kit. He discusses the final assembly steps, specifically focusing on the installation of a red dot sight and the various mechanical adjustments required to get the components to play nice with each other. It seems that even in the world of airsoft, some parts need a little persuasion to fit correctly.
Technical challenges were a recurring theme, including a mismatch between the mount's screw sizes and the red dot's requirements. To fix a gritty trigger feel caused by a ledge in the frame, a specific trigger bar was installed to reposition the disconnector. Additionally, some manual grinding was necessary on the grip safety and barrel support to ensure smooth operation, proving that a file is often a builder’s best friend.
The builder also addressed weight and compatibility issues by swapping out the steel recoil plug for a lighter aluminum version. There was a minor drama with stripped threads in the blowback unit, which was salvaged with a tap and die set. The project concludes with a note that standard magazine baseplates might need a bit of a trim to fit the new magwell, because apparently, even magazines like to keep things tight.
