A Neat Idea: Ballista Tactical Nautilus Rotating Rail

OptimusPrime

This is a novel feature made in a rail system, especially when you want to have various tactical accessories mounted to help you shoot effectively in whatever position. The Ballista Tactical Systems Nautilus Rotating Rail helps you adjust your front-end to put into use the accessory you need to fit the shooting requirements in a tactical situation.

The Nautilus Rotating Rail is a 7-inch system which is comprised of 2 separate and adjustable rail systems. Both of these have the 1913 Picatinny rails and you can rotate these to a full 360 degrees with each adjustment at 45 degree increments. Since both of these systems are quadrails, you can have access to 8 different accessories instantly --- no need for tools to mount and dismount, especially when time is of the essence.

Two examples have been given in the video below. One is the ability to combine the use of a bipod and a foregrip so that the shooter can shift to the bipod when going prone or want a more stable shooting platform, or rotate the rail to have the foregrip in use while on the move, shifting the bipod to another position. The second is what I liked about this system when you can shift a laser sight from one side to another and the laser dot is still zeroed in. This is helpful in situations when you need to shoot from right to left while behind a barricade, especially around corners. This can be done to a front-mounted quick reflex sight when the flat rail on the main body is used for a zoomed scope.

Made of 6061 T6 aluminum, this is an expensive system as it's priced at US$795.00 that if you want something for airsoft, then you will need a very cheap replica made. But if an airsoft company can license it from Ballista, then we might be able to have a cheaper version. I hope MadBull Airsoft is reading this. The cost might be in the rotating mechanism to make the system work, and MadBull uses the same material for its licensed rail system that we expect this to be still on the premium side if released for airsoft.

I think this neat, but of course, there are some shooters who prefer less accessories to mount as weight factors need to be considered. The more accessories you mount, the heavier the rifle becomes and will affect shooting effectiveness too. Try mounting all 8 accessories on the Nautilus, and you'll have a frankengun, or more of a Transformer gun.

But if you dig this, prepare to pay premium to get it now.
