More On the Future Tech From Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

In the release of game trailers of the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, we are all being prepped for an online First Player Shooter video game that will provide more high-tech weaponry than Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and almost tantamount to putting up something similar to Titanfall. Now, in this new trailer, Sledgehammer Games' co-founders explain the future tech of Advanced Warfare.

According to the Glen Schofield, the General Manager of Sledgehammer Games, that whilst the story of Advanced Warfare is set 40 years into the future, many of the future technology used take inspiration from technologies that are already in use or are being tested as of present to make these weapons believable. Drones, directed energy weapons with lasers, and exoskeletons are already here but they take on more features and powers in the future. Of course, with these weapons are some added weapons that are perhaps in the minds or drawing boards of some skunkworks team of a Defence Contractor somewhere such as the threat detector grenade,  hover tanks and hover bikes.

What is first revealed in this trailer is the mobile barricade which for those who use riot shields before would probably welcome this technology. The mobile barricade will follow the direction of the shooter and will open a window to allow the shooter to make a quick shot at a designated target without much human intervention.

But the main feature of the Advanced Warfare will be the exoskeleton, a technology that is already available these days, and being tested thoroughly by DARPA for future battlefield use.  The exoskeleton for Advanced Warfare, apart for the superhuman abilities it gives to the game characters, makes us think that it was designed by cherry-picking the features from other games such as the cloaking ability like in Crysis, and the ability to jump walls and higher places like in Titanfall.

Exoskeletons are getting to have more attention these days, especially in the movies such as Elysium and the recently released Tom Cruise movie Edge of Tomorrow. Call of Duty Advanced Warfare is the latest of these movie and game titles that will be bringing the exoskeleton and more advanced weaponry that takes inspiration from today's technology to the next level.
