Miss Kansas, Sgt. Theresa Vail, Competes For Miss America Title

Logan

She may not be the most delicate Miss America contestant, but Miss Kansas, Theresa Marie Vail, sure gets our votes for being kick-ass. She's a marksman (or woman), archery expert, boxer, racer, an advocate for young girls, and a member of Kansas National Guards Medical Detachment. With all that skills and advocacy, she ticks all the boxes for an ideal woman for those who love adventure and the outdoors, such as us airsoft players.

Miss Kansas is not the first servicewoman to compete in Miss America. There have been several and Miss Utah 2007, Sergeant Jill Stevens was actually a combat veteran, having deployed to Afghanistan. Just like Miss Stevens, Miss Vail she brings something that women might want to aim for --- that beauty can also come with brains and brawn.

Unfortunately, airsoft is not in her list of extracurricular activities, but she knows her firearms well more than a lot of airsofters around the world, as she's active with the National Guard. Perhaps she might want to take a look at our sport and she’ll get thousands more adoring fans from all over the airsoft world.

According to a story at Huffington Post, she was an avid motorcycle racer, a double major in Chemistry and Chinese at the Kansas State University, and won't cover up her tattoos during the Miss America Beauty Pageant. The preliminaries have been ongoing since Tuesday with the finals on the 15th of September in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

While many women have been looking into having their beauty with grace and tenderness, Miss Vail thinks otherwise. That being a tough woman could also bring glamour and beauty. The empowerment for women she desires is also overcoming stereotypes and barriers and thus she will wear her tattoo proud during the pageant.

It's just unfortunate that this story came a day late as you might have voted for her during the video contest which ended last night. But if there's still public voting on Sunday, the Final Competition, I'm sure airsoft players would vote for her.
