Michael Bay To Develop "Ghost Recon" Movie

Gungho Cowboy

We know that a lot of us are excited with the release of Guillermo del Toro's "Pacific Rim" where sky-scraper high mech warriors battle godzilla-like monsters from the deep, what many video gamers and airsoft players don't realise that one favourite video game may just become a full-blown movie if all goes well. Now, are you excited to hear this?

Michael Bay, the director of "Transformers" and "Pearl Harbor", is said to have been signed-up to develop the Ubisoft's game "Ghost Recon" into a movie franchise with Warner Brothers.  If the feasibility of having a movie made on this famous video game is positive, Bay also may get to direct it. For those who are familiar with Michael Bay's movies, expect it to be a slam bang action movie.

For Ubisoft, it will be their third game title to become a movie with "Assassin's Creed" and "Splinter Cell" also in the works. For the top techno-thriller writer Tom Clancy, who is not unfamiliar with having his titles turned into movies, this will be the second video game under this name to become a movie. Ubisoft will be hands on in the development of the movie rather than outright licensing it to Warner Brothers to maintain creative control over its development. Whilst top selling video games are developed into movies, not all of these titles can guarantee outright blockbusters.

There are no more details apart from having a well-known Hollywood director coming in for a video game which is one of the more successful video game franchise among FPS video games. If the firefights of the NEST in the Transformer movies impress you, then you might have just have previewed how Michael Bay will direct the gun battles in Ghost Recon the movie.

The nearest to a movie about Ghost Recon is what Ubisoft produced as a short film as part of the marketing campaign for "Ghost Recon: Future Soldier" which Optimus Prime until now has not finished the single player campaign, always putting off to attend to other matters. "Ghost Recon Alpha" was co-produced with Ridley Scott, and it may also provide us an insight on how the full-blown movie will be.

For now, we just need stay tuned for more information to come our way.
