Twitter may perhaps be the king of short online updates and every second thousands, if not millions, of tweets get sent all over the world --- some trivial, some urgent, some important, some historic, and many are dumb and stupid. The last one would just make us slap our foreheads wondering why there are many people in the world who just tweet stupid stuff without thinking that they'll regret what they sent later on.

20 year-old Dakkari McAnuff Los Angeles may probably had made the dumbest tweet in our books, if we are speaking about responsible gun ownership:

"100 RT's and I'll shoot someone walking,"

Which was accompanied by the following Twitpic (which is an air rifle):

What's even worse was that he followed the tweet later on with "Man Down. Mission Completed." Though there was no indication that he did shoot someone. Even if there's no evidence or incident that he carried on with what he promised, what he most definitely accomplished was alarm Twitter users and caused the Los Angeles police to track him down.

Now, he's on a US$50,000 bail (Ouch!).

Sometimes people think tweeting what they think is a joke is actually no joke for most, especially if your tweet pertains to guns. Whether it's a toy or an airsoft gun making such stupid tweets and accompanying it with a realistic looking gun would alarm people. Since it's online, word would come around fast and that's how fast Police reacted and arrested McAnuff.

Wonder of wonders, that tweet got 365 retweets and favorited 116 times according to Huffington Post. As to how you want to call those who did retweet and favorited it, I'll leave it to you.

Let this story be a lesson for us in airsoft where we love to post photos ourselves with guns and gear online. We should not be joking about killing people online just because we own airsoft guns. As to the consequences, all we need to think about is McAnuff and his dumb tweet to make us think twice before tweeting something stupid about our airsoft guns.
