If They Make This More Tactical-Looking, I'm Sold!

Logan

Yes, indeed! But then, I will need to sell a good list of my airsoft guns and gear just to complete it. With the cold weather setting in, I'll be needing a good set of thermal clothing to keep me warm outside, especially in the woodlands and doing winter airsoft. These Columbia Omni-Heat Electric Heater line-up should do the trick, that is, if I can afford them.

These thermal wear from Columbia have battery operated heating systems to last you a good number of hours in cold weather. Originally, the system can allow you to charge also your mobile phones and MP3 players, but this capability seemed to have been removed from the marketing material, and would rather have the batteries focus on the giving the heat when you most needed it.

You will not need to turn on the heater all the time to keep yourself warm. This is already a redundant system which already has the Omni-Heat Reflective heat system which line the insides of the jacket and the footwear. The patent-pending reflective heat system traps the warm air inside and still provide you a good breatheable clothing. Once you find the reflective system not enough, you can then turn on the electric heating system on demand and you can adjust the settings according to the warmth you need. These are still machine-washeable, so no need to worry about how to clean them, just remove the battery first lest you ruin it.

The good thing about adjustable settings is that it allows you to conserve battery, making it last longer. The comfort cuffs still provide warmth to your hands even if you remove your gloves. It is waterproof and you have the option to have a stealth mode, with which the system is on without the lighting indicator on. The problem though is that Columbia does not have a tactical line-up for this sytem.

The jacket system costs from US$750 to US$1,200 while the footwear from US$350 to US$450. Expensive stuff, but if you think they're worhtwhile investments in keeping you warm in sometimes unpredictable climes, then you might want to try to set aside some money for these. If you're ok with the hunting patterns (I guess these are Real Tree patterns) to use in airsoft, then go ahead and get one of these. I would start first with the footwear as these are more affordable and I would always want warm toes.

On highsight, Columbia may have something here besides having a heating system. If the battery system is improved further with having more juice at a lightweight package, they can develop a tactical wear system that can power radios, torches, GPS and even weapons sights. That is, if they think it'll be a worthwhile investment to do.
