How Many (Airsoft) Guns Do You Need?

Logan

One of our readers sent us a link of this video uploaded by the Vuurwapen Blog last week. It's about a vlog called "How Many Guns Do You Need?" which the author explains what you really need for a gun. He narrows down to 7 types of guns for the real gun user although he says you are not really limited to those, depending on your financial capacity or the need for backups. You can watch the vlog here:

I take inspiration from this vlog to write this article, since it also matters to the airsoft player, as he or she needs to put his/her money properly. We all can agree that no airsoft gun can be used for all situations. An airsoft gun can excel in some, but not all situations, and the need for backup airsoft guns in case your primay breaks down and you need something to quickly draw to keep on continuing in the game.

Airsoft is no cheap hobby and for those who are deep into it, they can easily rack up thousands of dollars worth of airsoft guns and gear. I have seen some who can easily fill up a small room with airsoft guns, and high end ones at that. They will make airsoft manufacturers happy, but are they wise investments?

Bluntly, as compared to real steel guns, airsoft guns are not exactly good personal investments that will appreciate in value over time. By the time you start putting an airsoft gun out of the box, it will start to depreciate immediately and sometimes it takes just less than a year for its value to be considered zero, especially for those ACM airsoft pistols. A real steel weapon can maintain its value, especially those classic ones that get auctioned off or considered as historical pieces that are sought after by collectors.

Having a good number of airsoft guns should be based on your need, not really about having bragging rights that'll turn your team mates turn green with envy. You don't exactly need the 7 types of airsoft guns just like those mentioned in the vlog. Having at least 4 airsoft guns, 1 for woodland, 1 for close quarters, 1 as a backup/secondary weapon (pistol), and a spare one in case your primary gets broken down will get you prepared for most types of airsoft skirmishes.

If money is no object, then you can grab as many airsoft guns as you want, whether you intend to use them for skirmishes or just display them at home. But if you want to place your purchases properly, you do need to some research by going to airsoft forums and websites, and even actually asking players in the skirmish field what's usually the most bang for the buck. Times are tough nowadays, even job security is a joke, and that saving your money than just whipping out your wallet each time the best and latest airsoft gun comes out is an imperative.

Thus, always think about how many airsoft guns do you really need each time you see all these nice looking airsoft guns get posted here at Popular Airsoft. Making the impulsive purchase decision on airsoft gun is not always a wise move. It doesn't put food on the table, unless airsoft is your actual bread and butter.
