Half-Life Fan Short Film "The Downfall Of Evolution" In The Works

If there is anything made whether official or fandom about Half-Life, we want to hear about it. It's the game from Valve Corporation that pushed First Person Shooter video games to a new level, taking over from iD Software and its Doom series and its influence on FPS single player campaign and multiplayer is still felt, with the fan Mod Counterstrike still widely played around the world.

Just over 2 days ago, we were given a head-up by one reader about two trailers made by Turkish Director, Tiber Ergür. This is about a short fan film of Half-Life called "The Downfall of Evolution" and the trailers, whether you choose to watch the original or the "Aggressive" version, is a beautifully made sci-fi trailer that actually reminds me of the District 9 film by Neill Blomkamp that became a surprise hit. Watch the trailers for yourself below:

Tiber Ergür and his team of fine Turkish artists place the story about a soldier "who had been through so many hard circumstances just to be alive during the invasion that had been started by the Combine Species, after the Black Mesa Tragedy. The 23 year old corporal and his team gave news and warning about the invasion on the radio. With the order given to the soldiers, the corporal and his team went to check if some places were safe. Unfortunately, it was the first time they faced the fact of the Combine terror. The corporal lost his memory substantially over time. His life had changed after the ‘Seven Hour War’ and nothing would be the same for him anymore."

For those who still follow the Half-Life Story, the Seven Hour War was the invasion of planet Earth by the Combine, which is an empire of sentient species, attracted by Portal Storms that led most the people on earth to flock to the cities for protection. In a matter of seven hours, all of Earth's armed forces were defeated by the Combine with the United Nations surrendering of all places, at the United Nations Building in New York City.

"The Downfall of Evolution" is still a work in progress  and those who want to see this happen can follow the team at their official website. They need people who want to help in the digital production such as experts in Photoshop, 3D modeling, and digital compositors. Given the trailer, they will need digital artists that can make sophisticated and complicate designs for the project.

Progress bars show how the different components of the project are moving and there is still a long way to go before this fan film gets released. Most importantly, the team would love to hear from other Half-Life fans since their feedback would be valuable and at the same time motivate them to finish the work.

With all these fan films cropping up about Half-Life, is it time that someone from Hollywood takes notice and plan for a full-length movie? What do you think?
