Ground Zero Weekender 2013 Just Weeks Way

OptimusPrime

It's almost the end of July, and when the month of August arrives, many airsoft players in the UK and Europe will be preparing for one of the long running and biggest airsoft events in the world --- the Ground Zero Weekender National Airsoft Event. For us at Popular Airsoft, we'll have to show up as we are going to defend "The Others" crown being the winners of last year for the first time in Gr0und Zero's history.

We've been playing for "The Others" ever since we started covering Ground Zero Weekend 2013 in 2008, and have remained in that group ever since. We never missed a year for this event, and this year will be there again and the Ground Zero organisers have upgraded us to having our own area at the stalls section near the Big Tent. This means less walking to our tents as we are not getting any younger.

To be held from the 23rd to the 25th of August 2013, which is also the last Bank Holiday until Boxing Day, Ground Zero boasts of gathering over a thousand players to have what we always call a "target rich environment." For those who are expecting this to be a Milsim event, they may be disappointed as it's also tailored to accommodate every type of airsoft player there is ever since airsoft was invented. But then, for the Milsim player, there are many missions that will require their mindsets, especially in special ops missions that will be assigned by the group commanders. They can let the other players do the usual shooting by keeping the opponents at bay whilst they go for the objectives.

As of this writing, over 1000 players have already signed up, with The Others getting its bigger share of players. We are definitely sure that Deltas are raring to go after The Others, as they are not used to not winning the event. But the Bravos might just pull up something to frustrate them. But for The Others, winning may not exactly what they want since it seems their motto is always "Fun, Fun, Fun" and would just wreck havoc on both Bravos and Deltas for the sake of fun.

Now for something that players would also want to look into. Information sent in by Alex Hunt is that the Somerley Beer Festival will also be ongoing just up the track at the Somerley Estate. Players can attend the Beer Festival after games, but they will need to be in civilian clothing. And no, they can't bring their airsoft guns this year. But for those who prefer to stay in camp, there's always the onsite Bar at the Big Tent.

Airsoft players going to the Ground Zero and have fully paid up or put in their deposit can order from the Zero One Airsoft Store and get a 10% discount. All they have to do is use the code "NAE13." They can also pick their orders from the Ground Zero venue itself.

According to Alex, a diverse offering of food will be in the menu this year such as fajitas, donuts, crepes, chilli, and curry.

As for the prizes, the chances of a participant winning a raffle prize is much better. Alex explained that there are lots of raffle prizes that 1 in 20 players will have a chance to win one. This is already on top of the freebies comprised  of the following: new fabric NAE entry bracelets, NAE:13 Velcro patch and 1 of 6 elastic bracelets.

We'll put more information about the Ground Zero Weekender 2013 as soon as we get more from the organisers. But if you have already booked yourself and your mates, we look forward to seeing you this August to exchange BBs with you.
