Got A Problem With Guns Coloured Differently?

Gungho Cowboy

Well, I don't. It's a free world and anybody can own guns can have them coloured just the way they want it. What made me write about brightly coloured guns, whether these are real steel or airsoft was the blog post at Soldier Systems. "Do All Guns Have to Be Black?" got me thinking that yes, indeed we sometimes complain loudly about brightly coloured guns, especially when these are mandated by legislation to distinguish the real deal from replicas or toys.

We all know that legislation about brightly-coloured airsoft guns, however well-intentioned, is misguided since some gun owners will colour their guns differently from the rest. Why so? Some shooters are not combat or tactical shooters, and they're mainly down the range developing target shooting skills that having guns that are not "tactical" in terms of colour schemes is just normal. And as others people have already pounded upon, law enforcement people may just put themselves at a disadvantage since they might mistake a criminal holding a colourful firearm to be a toy and will realise their mistake when it's already too late.

Some people will even go skirmishing against others with their Hello Kitty guns or the famous Femme Fatale M4s from G&G that there was an effort on Facebook to petition G&G Armament to continue making the Femme Fatale. So no matter how we laugh at pink coloured guns, there are those who will go head to head against you in an airsoft game with these with no questions asked.

Some custom gun makers have built businesses making coloured guns. Rather than "they can have any colour as long as it's black" people are free to select from the swatches that are available.

Indeed, as Soldier Systems wrote, it's also a way to have women attracted to the opposite sex with more choices of colours when picking their guns to shoot with. I have seen a lot of guns that have more colours than the rainbow and they're not boring at all.

Of course, no one will dispute your assertion that black or other colours used for combat will always be superior in terms of stealth and not attracting attention to the shooter, but don't disdain other people for having a different shade on their guns. At the end of the day, it's all a matter of preference and taste.
